A trade date (Swedish: avslutsdag) is the day on which a deal in shares, bonds or other securities is made, when buyer and seller agree on price and quantity. The trade date normally appears on the settlement note. Payment and delivery often take place a few days later, on the settlement date.
In a transfer of unlisted shares, the parties agree when ownership changes. The date on which the change is entered in the share ledger may therefore differ from the trade date.

A settlement note is a receipt confirming the terms of a purchase or sale of shares.
