Establishing the share ledger (Swedish: upprättande av aktiebok) means a new limited company creates its share ledger. By law, it must be established as soon as the memorandum of association has been signed. It first shows who subscribed, usually the founders, and how many shares each holds.
Outside CSD-registered companies, it can be kept digitally, in a bound book or in a secure loose-leaf or card system, see form of the share ledger. NVR's digital share ledger makes later changes easy to record.

A memorandum of association is the document drawn up when a limited company is formed.
